Rich & Skinny Fall 2013 Look Book and Interview

Rich & Skinny is a brand that every girl can relate to aka we all want to be Rich and Skinny (well, almost). The mastermind behind Seven for All Mankind and later Citizens of Humanity, launched Rich & Skinny in 2006, giving women a jean that mixes flattering fabrics with a great elasticity for comfort.

This Fall, Rich & Skinny’s look book is centered around art and architecture using unique shapes as playful details. The collection is also concentrating on the reinvention of denim — using Italian coating on some jeans to enhance the contrasts of its hues, to modernizing the patchwork denim technique.

Along with the R&S fun look book, I got a chance to interview the creative director, Nicole (one of my favorite things to do). I thought I would pick her brain about the denim industry, being a designer and how she likes to wear her R&S Jeans. Thanks for the fun interview Nicole! Enjoy guys!

Denim Blog: What is your favorite thing about being a denim designer?

Nicole: The world of denim constantly evolves, new technology leads to new fabrications and new washes. At times a denim designer functions as a chemist! I like to think of it as a dynamic, creative intersection where style meets science.

DB: What do you think is the next big trend in denim?

Nicole: I’ve always loved the marriage of denim and sportswear. The presence of texture and pattern make denim silhouettes feel fresh and new with a hint of edge.

DB: What is your favorite wash?

Nicole: I love deep saturated washes, with mild high and lows!

DB: What do you keep in mind while designing for Rich & Skinny?

Nicole: I always ask myself “Will this item make someone feel sexy, timeless, effortless and cool?”

DB: Who is the R&S girl?

Nicole: A woman with an inimitable sense of “fearless” style.

DB: What is a denim trend you would like to see go away?

Nicole: I would NOT miss the trend of patch and repair on the derrière.

DB: What is your favorite way to wear R&S?

Nicole: I love my rich and skinny jeans with my favorite heel of the moment… the higher the heel the better – lol!

“Rich” is for all the details, “Skinny” is for how the jeans make you look and feel”
