Denim Review: 7 For All Mankind Skinny Ankle Zip Jeans in Grey Sateen

My review this week is on the 7 For All Mankind Skinny Ankle Zip Jeans in Grey Sateen. I had been in love with these for quite some time, every time I saw them on Shopbop I would really lust over them. It was by chance that I found them on the 7 For All Mankind website in the sale, so I snapped them up instantly and I am so glad that I did!

I had been on the hunt for the perfect pair of grey jeans. Despite owning hundreds of jeans, grey was a colour that I lacked. The grey wash on these jeans was what made me fall for them the second I saw them. It’s such a beautiful shade! It’s lighter in areas like the thighs and butt to represent a natural fading, but it’s darker around the calves and hip area, with subtle whiskering details. They remind me of a great authentic looking blue jean, but in a grey wash, which was just what I was looking for. They also have a bit of a sheen to them due to the fabric being really silky and soft. These actually feel a lot like butter on the skin! They are so stretchy and soft, they aren’t uncomfortable to wear and I have worn them twice already! The stitching of the jeans is in a dark grey too, so having it tonal to blend in with the wash was a great idea. The only thing I would change would be the ankle zippers. They are in a bronze/gold colour and I personally think that silver or gunmetal would have worked better with the grey wash, just to keep things on a cooler tone to blend in.

These are the skinny fit from 7 For All Mankind, however they have a much shorter inseam. It’s around 26 inches, so it’s pretty short and skims above the ankles, even on my shorter legs. The rise is a mid height and the back pockets are the plain version as they don’t feature the signature squiggle stitch that the brand is known for. These do have the tab on the right pocket though, but that’s grey too so everything blends in. These are so minimal and sleek, they don’t have anything flashy on them to make a statement, they just make a statement on their own because they are beautiful. I heard that these jeans run big, so instead of going with my normal size of 27, I went with a 26 and I am glad that I did! They fit me perfectly and a 27 would have definitely been loose. It was a risk as they came from the US and I couldn’t return them, but I trusted the judgement that they ran bigger and just planned on stretching them intensely if they didn’t, ha ha.

The jeans have a really flattering fit, just as you would expect from 7 For All Mankind. I’ve always found their jeans to be cut really nicely and these definitely didn’t disappoint me. I’m usually a fan of the Gwenevere cut, but I think I might even like these more! The back pocket placement is perfect and I think I like the plain pockets more. The inseam is short, but since they are a cropped jean, I like it that way. I also love the fact that they are so skinny the whole way down. Even at the ankle they are as tight as they would be in the thigh, so they almost have a legging like appearance in terms of skinniness. I also find it pretty cool that the ankle zips are longer. They have a bit of a longer length than some of my other ankle zip jeans, and they show quite a lot, but it definitely gives the jeans an edge. These are functional zippers too, so you can unzip them to pull the jeans up if you need to.

I have been trying to think of something bad about these jeans, but I honestly can’t think of anything at all. Perhaps I could say again about the ankle zips being silver, but it’s not a deal breaker in any way. I would definitely recommend these jeans to you if you are looking for the perfect pair of grey jeans, they are simply beautiful in every way. I adore how comfy they are, they are really stretchy but flattering at the same time and the grey just goes with everything. I’m incredibly glad I took the chance and bought them as they have become one of my favourites! If you have a similar taste to me in jeans, I know you will love them too!
