Denim Dresses

Denim Dresses have quickly become a staple for any denim lover’s wardrobe. They have been around for quite a few seasons and it seems as though the trend is around to stay. Increasingly, designers have been getting more creative when it comes to styles and details and there are a variety of different options when it comes to denim dresses. I put together an overview of some of the most popular styles and how to wear them.

Chambray is one of the most popular styles when it comes to denim dresses. Katie Holmes and Julianne Hough have been seen out in similar style dresses. The lighter wash and fabric of Chambray, like this style from J Crew, has an overall casual vibe. The light weight fabric is great for warmer weather, but can be transitioned to dropping temperatures by adding a layer like a sweater or blazer and tights.

Embellishments are one of the most popular trends when it comes to denim and this is showing up on denim dresses as well, like Kate Hudson’s embellished Balmain dress. Embellishments including tie dye, mixed materials, and patterns and prints, like this Topshop Leopard Denim Dress, have all been popular this season. When styling these versions, keep the rest of the outfit minimal to let the embellishments be the focus of the outfit.

Because denim is such a casual fabric, they tend to have a more overall casual feel. As the trend continues to gain popularity, more designers are combining dressier silhouettes and denim fabric like this Alice + Olivia Drop Waist dress, which has a drop waist pleated skirt and high elegant neckline. These dressier styles look great with heels and a great bag like Nicole Richie wore with her Balmain denim dress.
