Our 8 Favorites from NYFW
Patchwork will carry on from fall into the new season. Labels like COACH and RE/DONE went for mixing different shades of blues to give a DIY appeal to their dresses and jeans.
This is not a trend you have to wait for either. See the styles that’ll get you ahead of everyone.
Get ready to channel the ’80s again with the resurgence of acid wash hitting the runway. Proenza Schouler were huge fans of this by taking on the concept in unexpected ways, like dresses and shirts that were cut on the generous side.
With a sea of crops that will continuously reign, lengthier jeans feel fresh again…and they are not just your average longer jeans. Brands like Karen Walker have gone a bit further with styles that stack and puddle at the hems.
With the addition of longer jeans, mid-length skirts have also made their appearance at Jason Wu for his collaboration with 3×1, along with Proenza Schouler and RE/DONE also showing their takes on the a-line cut.
Get ready to feel the heat with this trend, the denim coat. Both Coach to Michael Kors showed their takes on the denim coat. Coach opting for a pioneer approach while a more tailored approach walked down at Kors.
The ’90s is still a prominent influence and for the Spring 2019 season, brands got their influence from the skate/surfer kids. Think unreconstructed vintage Levi’s. The fits were kept slouchy and giving some breathing room to carry on the trend that has been gaining popularity lately.
Both R13 and John Elliott showed their takes with their signature grunge and Los Angeles vibes, respectively. While MONSE and SEA went for feminine approaches that still have the breezy attitude.
Lastly, get ready to carry your denim. Maybe even to the extreme.
Volume played a huge role this season in New York and also went into account for the accessories as well.
At Proenza Schouler we saw denim totes resembling the ones of IKEA so big it is sure to be a viral piece. Then on the other end of the spectrum, we have Matthew Adams Dolan keeping things hands free with his utility inspired waistbags.
Which side will you be joining, staying light or carrying your entire life with you?
