New York Fashion Week Highlights

Earlier this month I made my way over to New York Fashion week. It was my first time there and I can honestly say it’s everything I hoped it would be.

Surrounded by fashion at every moment, hopping from one place to another, all of which is usually followed by a fabulous dinner and a night out on the town. I went on behalf of my personal blog in which I attended a few shows, had some meetings, attended a couple events and ended the nights with some fabulous fashion parties. Here are some of the shows I attended….

The BCBG Max Azria show. The whole collection was a mixture of gorgeous fabrics and textures all topped with some sort of leather embellishment or harness. It was elegant with a slight edge and everything I’ve ever wanted it to be. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

Mara Hoffman. Mara took us all to Hawaii during her fashion show with a live ucalaly band to open and close the show, bright prints, an all white runway and island inspired music for the background. Every single print was unbelievable, all the silhouettes heavily draped without being heavy at all and the perfect bathing suits to complete the collection. I can honestly say I want it all!

Ivana Helsinki. This one was special because Bollare (the PR company that represents Ivana) asked me to pick out a dress to wear to the show as well as sit in the front row. This was a first and such an honor. I picked out a black dress with peacock feather embroidery on the chest and wore it with pride. The prints were magnificent, all interpreting “3D” with primary colors and overlays. The makeup was minimal with a stripe down the middle of the lip and the hair: a low, natural looking bun. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the collection…

Last but not least, Nonoo. I went to a collection preview for Nonoo in LA, therefore it was a pleasure to reconnect in NY. Nonoo is classic, elegant, bright and warm. I love all the matching sets, prints that were designed especially for the collection and the color pallet. The collection was inspired by Cuba and it definitely translated. A fun little finishing touch to the collection was pieces of scrap fabric that was braided into the model’s hair. Enjoy!

Other highlights? The Nasty Gal party, Rebecca Minkoff party and the BWR event in which I got a free foot massage thanks to Foot Petals. I had such an amazing time in NY, it is such a beautiful city with more culture than you can ever learn about and some amazing food and bars. Until next time NY…
