New Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are no longer what they used to be. Since they first came out, they have since undergone a lot of changes. Whether it be the fit or their lack of details, to even their washes; they are a style that can easily lack interest very quickly.

Just like every other style, as the seasons go on, brands start to perfect the fits and add more interesting details without them losing their integrity. From shorts to slouchy slim to baggy, here are some of our choices from a few of our go-to brands that show why the style is still going strong even after six years.

R13 has always been a brand that is not scared to get grimy with their styles. Their boyfriend jeans are no different. There are styles that have heavy distressing with dirty and unique details, like a crossover waist. It is not just baggy, dirty and distressed with R13 though; the brand also kept it minimal with a skinny boyfriend that comes in a faded black wash.

When it comes to variety, J Brand is one to look forward to each season. By only starting to release their boyfriend styles a couple of years back, this makes J Brand fairly new to this style compared to other brands. But just because there was a delay, it only meant that they were just perfecting the fit. By keeping their styles slim, their jeans and shorts have become staples, like their skinny, for many of their loyal followers.

What is there not to say about the boyfriend styles by Rag & Bone? They are a brand that is never afraid with their distressing. Coming out with distressed styles constantly each season whether they be black, blue or colored the brand has ‘rips’ down packed in a way that doesn’t look contrived. Their boyfriend jeans were no exception either. From their skinny slouchy Dre to the Boyfriend, they have a style for whether or not you want a loose fit or something more fitted that can work easily from day to night.

The Le Garcon by FRAME is a boyfriend jean that I can vouch for. I haven’t tried any boyfriend jeans before these and I cannot be any happier with them. They have a very unisex skinny boyfriend fit that is very flattering and with a super soft hand. They also come in an array of blue shades for you to choose from. Whether you choose distressed or a clean medium blue, you won’t be disappointed by them. But you might want to hide them from your boyfriends.

When you are looking for a heavily distressed pair, AG Adriano Goldschmied has them all from tears to repairs. When the trend kicked off years back, AG were the ones that took it a step further by making the washes feel richer without taking away the vibe of a naturally worn in pair. And till this day, that saying still holds for the brand as their boyfriends are constantly reinterpreted each season in ways that still amaze.

The boyfriend jean is nothing new for Paige. Their Jimmy Jimmy jeans have a huge following in both the celebrity world and on the streets. The past season was the introduction of new fits with heavier distressed styles and stronger detailing. Paige didn’t lose the Jimmy Jimmys in the sea of slimmer boyfriends though, this season they come in medium washes ranging from minimal to heavy distressing that are still heavy hitters after all these years.

There cannot be a post about boyfriend jeans without the brand that made it what it is today, Current/Elliott. They are ones to always reinvent and make their styles bolder without sacrificing its classic appeal. This season marked the first coated pair and even styles in washed leather. Current/Elliott also likes to keep it classic with blues and blacks, so their loyal fans are never left with a void.

– If you are in the mood for more room, whether it be a slight slouch or a full on ‘stolen from your boyfriend’ look, these styles are perfect and current, without the bore factor of the past.
