It’s been a while since the last time I did a styling post of multiple ways to wear a piece of denim. For this, I decided to try something different and went for a jacket instead of a pair of jeans, so I chose the J Brand Denim jacket in Atomic (which you can get here). I decided to style this jacket dressier as we usually see denim jackets worn with summer dresses or baggy trousers regularly. I think cleaning it up will make the post more refreshing to see and read.
For the first look (my favorite) I wanted to go for something that will work more for night or for day if you are a dressy day type of person. It can easily go from day to night though. I paired the jacket with a Helmut Lang skirt, a Rick Owens DRKSHDW t shirt, and a pair of Lanvin sandals. I’d say to wear the shirt loosely tucked into the skirt and rolling the sleeves up to look like a muscle t will help this outfit stay looking put together for when you decide to take the jacket off. When wearing with the jacket, I think, having it thrown on over your shoulders will dress up the jacket and still keep you looking chic instead of casual.
This is the most flirty look out of the three. I can see quite a few girls wearing an outfit like this. I paired the jacket with a Chloe tank top, a Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony skirt, and a pair of Repetto flats. For this look, I would say wear the shirt tucked into the skirt and just throw on the flats and jacket over your shoulders. I also think that you can also switch the flats out for a pair of nude pumps for a night out and wear the jacket buttoned up all the way to keep it from looking too sweet.
This is the most modest look of the three. One that I think a lot of girls will love once they have it on, but are hesitant to try it out when hearing about it. I put the jacket together with a Chloe Skirt, T by Alexander Wang Muscle Shirt, and some Giuseppe Zanotti heels. What I like most about this look is the color combination. The yellow plays really well with the turquoise and pale blue of the jacket. I would say, like the previous two looks, tuck the shirt into the skirt and wear the jacket buttoned up all the way. Wearing the jacket buttoned up will add a different type structure and edge to the look than the usual leather jacket that is normally paired with outfits like this.
