3 Ways to Wear The Genetic Ryder Jacket in Bone

Spring has sprung (well in California) and what better way to start it off than by styling a denim jacket. It’s been a while since I did a post on styling a denim jacket and I thought it would be a great idea to do another one. I chose the Genetic Ryder Jacket in Bone because of its not so stark wash. This makes it the perfect transitional piece to wear from Winter to Spring. Plus the leather sleeves add that little bit more to the look, but in a very subtle way.

The maxi dress and denim jacket is a classic Spring look, but I wanted to amp it up a bit more with the accessories to make it a more transitional look. Yes I paired the look here with these Rag & Bone sandals, but you can easily switch it out with some slouchy ankle boots in the Winter.

To give this jacket a more feminine vibe I wanted to choose a very billowy dress, like this Chloe one here. I kept the accessories simple and classic so it wouldn’t clash with the print of the dress or take away from the jacket. A basic black scarf like this Love Quotes one is a staple that all women should own, as well as a pair of classic aviators like these by Dita. They can be worn each and every season without having to think twice about it. To finish off the look, throw the bag over your shoulder and tie your hair in a bun and you are ready for the day.

This would be the “dressier day” look that is a take on the pajama trend…sort of. The Pucci shorts have a pajama feel to them with the print, but the shape of them makes them appropriate for day. I wanted a tank that had a nice drape to it even when tucked into the shorts. The ones by Kain Label definitely achieve that without making looks look sloppy. Along with the jacket, the Margiela belt and Opening Ceremony boots help give the outfit even more of a day feel and not like you are walking in your sleep.

So I just went crazy with the prints in the post. Which is very different for me. They are minimal, but still aren’t usually what I choose regularly. The jacket screamed, “Pair me with prints!” after I first saw it and it was right on that.

This time the print is in the form of Chloe pants. I instantly got a desert/Joshua Tree vibe after I put these two pieces together, which led to me keeping everything pretty much muted and in cream/white/brown tones. Once again I chose a top from Kain because its drape is just perfect. Then to play with the desert feel some more, I added chukkas by Opening Ceremony and a suede Balenciaga bag. Since everything is muted, I wanted a scarf that wouldn’t take away from the semi-nomadic vibe, but instead enhances the vibe even more. If you are looking to take this look a step further, you can even add a floppy hat to take it to a more western vibe.
